Year 10 on Country with Yolŋu Community

This week, Year 10 have been deep in their cultural immersion in North-East Arnhem Land. Facilitated by Culture College, this has been an extraordinary week for our students and accompanying staff.

Our second cohort to participate in this now-annual immersion, Year 10 are spending a two-way learning week on Country with the Yolŋu community. They have received their skin names, learnt Yolŋu Matha (language), explored kinship, lore and traditional healing practices, visited local beaches and an art gallery.

This experience is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our Year 10 students, and we look forward to hearing their reflections when they are back at School next week. We express our deep gratitude to the Yolŋu community for welcoming Year 10 to their land to live with their community for a week.

You can watch our 2023 video below of the inaugural immersion on Country with the Yolŋu community last year.
