Allegra and Students Talk Leadership

Ms Allegra Spender MP, Member for Wentworth and Ascham Old Girl, hosted a Leadership Forum recently for young students in the Eastern Suburbs.

Year 6 Ascham girls Aurelia and Madeleine attended the event and were delighted to learn about leadership from Allegra, relishing their special Ascham connection too. They report on their experience here:

‘On Friday 15 March, we were lucky to attend a Leadership Forum hosted by Ms Allegra Spender MP.

Together with representatives of other schools from the local area, we spoke about what being a leader was and what values are needed to be a leader. We also had the opportunity to ask Ms Spender questions about her role and politics.

Some of the questions included:

  • What is the focus in parliament at the moment?
  • Why did you get into politics?
  • What do you feel are some of the most important issues in Australia right now?
  • What is the government doing about youth mental health?
  • What does a day in parliament look like?

It was a fantastic experience and we enjoyed discussing leadership and sharing ideas with peers from neighbouring schools.’
