In a huge week for Ascham Tennis, our team placed 3rd in the Tildesley Tennis Shield.
In a heated contest, 24 independent girls’ schools battled it out at the Pennant Hills Park Tennis Centre for the coveted Tildesley Shield. All Ascham team members played their best tennis, winning significant matches in both singles and doubles, contributing to their overall tally. There was an abundance of team spirit on display during the three-day competition, with the girls thriving in the environment, supporting and cheering each other through every scenario. Many matches were won off the back of the players’ dedication and commitment to one another over the duration of the competition.
For those unfamiliar with Tildesley, it is the premier tennis competition among independent girls’ schools and has been held for 105 years now, since its inception in 1918. In that time, Ascham has won the Shield 14 times—it is a fiercely competed title and demands the very best from our dedicated players.
Last year the Ascham team placed 5th and we were thrilled with that result, so for our players to bring home 3rd place this year has been remarkable—achieving our best result in over 30 years.
