Reading, Creating, Dreaming

It has been a great first term in the Hillingdon Library (Prep to Year 2). Librarian Ms Penny Szentkuti provides a rundown on what our youngest students have been up to in her library.

‘Fortunately, the rain does not interfere with our activities and we heard a happy hubbub during all those wet lunchtimes. As well as reading, the girls became increasingly confident and creative with the construction materials and we enjoyed a new set of puzzles. The sun was nevertheless very welcome when it returned!

‘For International Women’s Day, we had a run on our Little People Big Dreams biography series and Rebel Girls books. This is a real growth area in children’s literature and the girls are fascinated by the courage and dreams of these famous people. And of course, ‘if you can see it, you can be it’ so it is wonderful to see ever increasing representation of women and girls across books of all types.’

Thanks Ms Szentkuti! We are lucky to have three wonderful libraries at Ascham that all of our students make great use of—rain, hail or shine.
