Celebrating 60 Years of the North North West Committee
For 60 years, the North North West Committee has been supporting Ascham and the wider regional community. Through its enduring commitment, the committee has continued to support students in need and has enriched the connections amongst the NNW Ascham families. To celebrate this remarkable milestone the NNW lunch was held in Uralla in August, hosted at the Strelitz family’s hotel, The Bolt Inn.
The room was full of sisters, mothers and daughters, and cousins. We were even fortunate enough to have four generations of one family in the room. Guests travelled from as far as Mudgee, the Southern Highlands and Gilgandra, a testament to just how much our Old Girls love a country drive. Many guests stayed overnight, some for two nights—bunking in with old boarding friends and making the most of their time together.
Despite recent floods and heavy snow falls preventing a few from attending, the spirit of the day remained strong. A magnificent banquet lunch was served with the crowd favourite being the signature Milly Hill’s slow-roasted lamb shoulder. A raffle was held, as is tradition, which is always so generously supported by the committee members. Proceeds of the raffle go to a current student in need of financial assistance.
Special thanks to Pip Warner and Polly Rutledge for once again bringing the NNW Lunch to life with warmth and flair. Their dedication continues to make these gatherings memorable. If you are interested in being part of the NNW Committee, please email aogu@ascham.nsw.edu.au.
Here’s to 60 years of the NNW Committee, and to many more moments of connection ahead.
