Multiple HSC Nominations

The Ascham Year 12 2024 cohort and their teachers have enjoyed an exceptional year in NESA’s HSC Showcase nominations for outstanding work. We are delighted that our students have been nominated for ARTEXPRESS, OnSTAGE, Encore and, for the first time ever, the Young Writers Showcase.

ARTEXPRESS
The bodies of work of eight HSC Visual Arts students, Grace Carter, Lucy Dimitriadis, Georgia Greig, Thomasina Kay Hoyle, Ava Pullen, Zeeba Shahidi, Giselle Taber and Maggie Tuck, have been retained for consideration in next year’s ARTEXPRESS exhibition. Their dedication and creativity have been recognised at this very high level. While the final selection for ARTEXPRESS will be confirmed in early December, the retention of these works is a testament to their artistic excellence and the high standards upheld by both the students and their teachers. Congratulations to all involved for this well-deserved acknowledgment.

OnSTAGE
Of the 2024 Drama cohort, 80% (16 students) received OnSTAGE nominations for excellence in their performance work. These exemplary Individual Performances and Group Performances have been nominated for possible inclusion in the OnSTAGE Showcase early next year: Camilla Beveridge, Ella Bishop, Jasmine Buki, Olivia Dight, Sofia Edlington, Ava Ghahreman, Madeleine Gregg, Hazel Jackman, Phoebe Keay Doak, Isabel Murdoch, Olivia Pryor, Lucy Saunders, Phoebe Steley, Manon Towzell, Victoria Wang and Aisha White. These nominations are in recognition of their highly skilled performances as well as for their tireless commitment to the dramatic arts.

Encore
Our Year 12 Music Scholars Lily Hill and Jasmin Wu have both been nominated for the next Encore concert for their performances in the Music 2 and Extension courses. Our congratulations to these exceptional Ascham Music Scholars who have shown exemplary skill on their chosen instruments.

Young Writers Showcase
In a first for Ascham, Eva Jacobson has been nominated for the HSC Young Writers Showcase for her outstanding English Extension 2 major work, Lunar Rhythms. Of her nomination, Eva said, ‘I’m unbelievably honoured to receive this nomination. It gives me unimaginable joy, both as a writer and a member of the Ascham community, to have a platform of recognition afforded to my major work, Lunar Rhythms, which meditates on the nature of the feminine writerly culture, craft and representation.’

Congratulations Eva, and to all our Year 12 students and their teachers across all these subject areas on their tireless commitment to excellence at Ascham.
