Honor Does It Again

For the second year in a row, Honor (Year 5) has been named a finalist in the Young Archie Portrait Prize, for her work Mother Nature.

Honor’s fantastic portrait of her mum was a finalist in the 9-12 year olds section. It will be exhibited among all the finalists at the Art Gallery of NSW, alongside the Archibald, Wynne and Sulman Prizes from 8 June to 8 September 2024. Winners will be announced on 27 July.

Honor’s artist statement says:

‘My mummy is not the best, but she is so much more than that. She is the gift that keeps on giving even when times are hard, like a guide dog or a guard dog or a little bit of light, which is the hope that keeps me going, though she never takes any credit. Between you and me, I am surprised that she has put up with me for ten whole years. To mummy: I love you more than everything (including sausages).’

Congratulations, Honor! We are so proud of you.
