Hats Off to Our Teachers

This week at Ascham we have been celebrating not only World Teachers’ Day but World Teachers’ Week!

The new Year 12 School Committee for 2024/25 (comprising Head, Vice and prefects) wrote this article for the School community, expressing gratitude for their dedicted and inspiring teachers at Ascham.

‘Ascham students are privileged to be taught by an outstanding group of teachers, who foster a supportive and encouraging environment that allows every student to thrive academically and thrive as an individual. The unique learning experience that is the Dalton Plan allows students to receive tailored support from their teachers in Studies as well as weekly feedback on Assignment work. It is through this system that Ascham girls can grow, improve and flourish academically. World Teachers’ Day is an annual opportunity for students to express their gratitude for the dedication and care teachers put into cultivating this unique learning experience. It is rare to forge such meaningful working relationships with teachers.

‘As we move through the years, the rapport that we have with our teachers grows and matures. By Year 12 it feels more like a collaboration with a common goal, as teachers work alongside us to help us achieve our ambitions. Ascham teachers also make students feel an enormous sense of belonging, by greeting students with a smile and giving great advice when we need to solve a problem. Form teachers are especially integral in creating the supportive and welcoming atmosphere at Ascham by being there for us every morning for two years, allowing students to forge a special connection with them.

‘As a thank you to our teachers, the Student Committee organised activities throughout this week. Instead of the usual World Teacher’s Day, we decided to extend this to a whole week. The activities were planned to showcase our gratitude towards our teachers and the countless time and effort they put into us. We feel very lucky to have such caring teachers who support us through all challenges, in the classroom and beyond. We were very excited to create this week of activities for them and hope they feel valued as an integral part of the Ascham community.’

Thank you to our Year 12 School Committee for this article, and to all our students for showing such warm appreciation for their teachers.
