At Ascham we strive for the highest levels of excellence in school sport… and you can’t get much better than playing for Australia!
Over the autumn break, one of our Year 12 students, Daniella, headed to Texas as part of the Australian Schoolgirls’ team participating in the Dallas Football Cup. Daniella is our Captain of Football here at Ascham, and has been passionate about the game for many years.
Amid some very tough competition, Daniella’s team won several matches in Dallas and, in the end, came an incredible 2nd place in the Cup!
When writing about her vision for Ascham Sport last year, our Head of Sport Alex Butt said: ‘Our goal is for Ascham Sport to be a leader in a new environment that values excellence over success. Success is about being measured in comparison to others, but excellence is about being the best we can be. It is about setting the bar high and making mistakes along the way because our students are trying things that others only dream about. Ultimately, the aim is to create a journey based on play, which helps every student into adulthood with the skills to succeed in the 21st century as a high performer both on and off the field.’
With students like Daniella being committed to both participation and excellence in their chosen sports, the Ascham Sports program can only go from strength to strength.
Congratulations again, Daniella, on your outstanding effort for Australia and your commitment to excellence in Football.
