The start of Term 3 marked the launch of Ascham Aspire—our bespoke leadership professional learning program for Ascham staff, designed to foster growth driven by curiosity. Ascham Aspire nurtures and empowers both emerging and experienced school leaders, equipping them with the vision, skills and confidence to lead with impact—today and into the future.

At Ascham, we recognise that leadership is a skill that can continually be developed. Through Aspire, we aim not only to strengthen our own professional wellbeing but also to positively influence the growth and wellbeing of our colleagues. One of the flagship elements of the program is the Aspire Talk series–our inaugural event, held on 13 August that brought together nearly 50 staff from both Teaching and Corporate Services.

Moderated by our Deputy Head of School, Pascale Drever, the panel featured leaders from across the school who shared insights on:

  • Vision and strategy
  • Decision-making and navigating challenges
  • Personal leadership growth
  • Staying future-focused in a dynamic educational landscape

Some of the thought-provoking questions included:

  • What does leadership resilience mean to you?
  • What role does empathy play in your leadership style?
  • What do you see as the most significant leadership challenge or opportunity in the next 5–10 years?

It was a powerful opportunity to connect, collaborate and share ideas—building a stronger sense of belonging across our community. This is just the beginning of the Aspire journey! A heartfelt thank you to our panellists for their humour, insight and authenticity:

Andrew Powell | Head of School
Alex Butt | Head of Sport, P-12
Georgina Liberale | Director of ICT
Lesley Brown | Head of Social Science
Peta Howley | Head of Junior School

We look forward to more conversations and leadership growth to come.
