All for One… Our new Three Musketeers!

In a spectacular round-off to Term 1, the Ascham Senior School production of The Three Musketeers was a swashbuckling success!

The Eternity Playhouse in Darlinghurst played host to our Ascham Drama Department’s four performances of a new version of The Three Musketeers, directed by Damien Ryan (artistic director of Sport For Jove Theatre Company). Damien’s adaptation for our students of the classic French historical adventure novel (written in 1844 by Alexandre Dumas) was funny, hugely accessible, dazzling and joyous. The young actors lit up the stage with their passion and skill, captivating every audience member.

Ascham students were joined by Sydney Grammar and Cranbrook students on stage and behind the scenes. The camaraderie that developed among the cast and crew as they worked together was delightful to see.

Ascham has a long history of enriching co-curricular activities, which support and enhance not only the core curriculum but provide students with an opportunity to identify and explore their passions. There is significant research that recognises the positive correlation between co-curricular involvement, academic performance and students’ abilities to develop stronger social and emotional skills.

Productions such as The Three Musketeers provide students with a sense of self and the belief that they can be successful; they extend their understanding of how to set and manage goals, and that persistence and effort can have incredible outcomes.

Congratulations to everyone involved in this magnificent Ascham production. Here’s to more spirited adventures together!
