2026 Student Leadership

On Tuesday 9 September, our 2026 Student Leadership Team was announced, and it was with a deep sense of pride that we watched the new student leaders of Ascham take the stage. This moment marks a significant milestone in the journey of our Year 11 students, all of whom have demonstrated exceptional growth, commitment and a genuine desire to serve our School community over the past year.

At Ascham, we have a School Committee comprised of Year 12 students. There is a Chair and a Vice-Chair (known as Captain and Vice-Captain in other schools), and a group of Committee members (usually known as Prefects in other schools).

For 2026, our Committee is a large group of 19 and all of these young women will be responsible for their own portfolio, such as Sport, Music, Wellbeing, Sustainability, Social Justice, Dalton, Houses, Sisters, and many more. Other Year 12 students will be members of these portfolios, with regular weekly meetings, initiatives and action items.

As well as the School Committee and portfolios, there are a large number of other leadership positions at Ascham that girls nominate for. There are House Chairs for our six Houses, and an array of Co-curricular positions, such as the Captains and Vice-Captains of various Sports, Music, Chess, Duke of Ed, Speech and Drama, Debating, and of course our Boarding and SRC Committees.

Each of our elected students has shown outstanding leadership potential, a sense of responsibility and a passion for contributing to the life of Ascham. It has been a privilege watching them grow into confident, compassionate individuals who are ready to take on the challenges and opportunities that leadership brings.

To those who were not elected to a position but threw your hat in the ring, we acknowledge your courage and resilience in applying. We encourage you all to continue showing leadership through your kindness, initiative and contributions that uplift others in the School community.

You are a credit to Ascham.
