Prep’s Friendship Jars and Buckets of Happiness

Term 2 in Ascham Prep has been wonderful! The Prep girls keep on embracing resilience, adaptability, kindness and bravery, actively strengthening their friendships and supporting one another. They continue to demonstrate our Dalton principles of: Collaboration, Responsibility, Independence and Reflection.

Our Prep students have been learning about friendships and the importance of filling each other’s buckets with kind words, kind hands and kind manners. It is important to fill other people’s buckets as well as our own because making others happy makes us feel happy too. Just as we can fill them, we can also empty them if we are unkind, and an empty bucket is a sad feeling.

In Prep, the students and staff discussed how good it feels when someone shows they care and wants to help us feel happy. The fuller the bucket is with kindness, smiles and lovely gestures, the happier the feeling. Remember, smiles are free, and who does not like smiles? In Prep, our buckets are overflowing with kindness, beautiful manners and big smiles!

How are you going to fill someone’s bucket today?
