When the Cat’s Away… Fiona Music Comes Out to Play

Remember the old saying: ‘When the cat’s away, the mice will play’?

Well, each year when our Senior students are away for the day at their Athletics Carnival, our Fiona (Years 3 to 6) students have the run of the Senior campus for Fiona Music Camp!

This year it was no different, and in May the Fiona students used the Senior music rooms, the whole playground and all of Ascham’s facilities for a fabulous array of activities including ensemble rehearsals and tutorials, Bollywood and contemporary dance workshops, ukulele sessions, Djembe drumming, Mallet Jam and sport sessions.

The lunchtime BBQ was especially entertaining with a performance by the fabulous Fiona Rock Band!

Two days later, on the evening of Wednesday 20 May, the Fiona Music Camp Concert was a wonderful way to conclude the camp, bringing together all the co-curricular ensembles for an enjoyable celebration of music. The girls presented a varied program and performed with confidence, showcasing their hard work during the camp.

Fiona Music Camp and Concert are two highly anticipated events in our Ascham calendar every year. We can’t wait to do it all again next year… when the cat’s away!
