While our students are on term break over spring, our building works have been progressing apace. With students away, it’s a great time to get the crane in and do the heavy lifting to keep our Fiona Re-development Project moving.
Over the course of three days, the Rohrig construction team successfully installed 53 columns as part of the new Fiona Hall façade. These columns were precast off site to ensure a high-quality concrete finish, as they serve as one of the building’s key architectural features.
A 100-tonne mobile crane was used to lift and precisely position each column, securing them into the ground floor slab. Once the roof slab is poured, the columns will be locked into place, completing this significant phase of the construction.
We thank Rohrig for their work and for supplying us with the below drone video in which we can see the works taking place.
