Miss Marie Wallis, Ascham’s founding Headmistress, would have been proud to see the turnout at the 125 Year Celebration Lunch of the Ascham Old Girls’ Union. She always encouraged her students to stay connected after leaving school and to contribute generously to the community.
The Royal Sydney Golf Club was an ideal venue for such a large group, hosting 150 Old Girls, aged 21 to 90, who celebrated their sense of identity and belonging to the AOGU. Highlights included the debut performance by the AOGU Choir, The Songbirds, who sang favourites from the Ascham Song Book and a rousing rendition of the School Song.
We extend our gratitude to the business and private donors for their incredible support to the successful AOGU Raffle, drawn by Mr Andrew Powell, Head of School and AOGU Patron. He talked enthusiastically about the School’s future and honoured the 18 Old Girls who currently work in permanent positions at Ascham. The AOGU Co-Presidents Yianoula Henderson and Emma Martin spoke warmly about the importance of connection and the progress of the AOGU under their Strategic Plan.
