Fifteen girls were placed in the All Round Achievers List, having achieved top Band marks of 90% and above in ten or more of their units.
A further 21 girls were very close to being included on this honours list, having achieved top band results in eight or nine of their units.
While acknowledging that the entire 2017 cohort achieved well above the State average and deserves acclaim for their achievements we are also very pleased to report outstanding individual results:
One student came first in the State in History Extension as well as sixth in Economics and 14th in Modern History.
One student received first place in Spanish Continuers, which she studied through the NSW School of Languages.
One student placed second in Economics and 12th in Mathematics.
Another student placed third in Economics.
One student received second place in German Extension.
One student received second place in Swedish Continuers, which she studied with an outside tutor.
One student placed fourth in Mathematics General 2.
Ascham students were enrolled in 27 different courses.
In 15 of these courses our lowest examination mark was equal to, or higher than, the average State examination mark. This includes subjects with varied candidatures such as English Extension 2, Mathematics General 2, Biology, Chemistry, Modern History and History extension, all French and German courses, Drama, Music, PDHPE and Visual Arts; a clear indication of the academic strengths of our School and the Dalton Plan.
All our girls in German Extension and Music Extension gained marks over 90%. In English Extension 1, English Extension 2, Drama, French Continuers, German Continuers, German Extension, Latin, Modern History, History Extension, Music 1, Music 2, Music Extension and Visual Arts all of our girls gained marks in the top two performance bands (80% and above).

Amelia Turner’s HSC Body of Work was selected for exhibition in next year’s ARTEXPRESS. Amelia’s work Paddington (19) 20 21 will be exhibited at the Art Gallery of NSW. This is a wonderful achievement for Amelia and her Visual Arts teachers.
In Drama the Group Performance Contained has been selected to perform at The Seymour Centre in February next year as part of the OnSTAGE program. This week of performances celebrates the best practical work in the 2017 HSC Practical Examinations. The members of this group are Zoe Crow, Emma Debus, Viviana Harris, Amelia Turner and Ozge Uluc.
In addition, Zoe Crow’s Costume Design for Brecht’s The Threepenny Opera and Annabel Holden’s promotion and program for Louis Nowra’s Summer of the Aliens were selected to be exhibited in the foyer.
The selections are a wonderful recognition of the girls’ creativity, hard work and passion and the tireless efforts of the Drama teachers.
Brynna Hundy and Nadya Rykina-Tameeva each received an Encore nomination for Music Performance. This is a wonderful achievement for these girls and their teachers.
