Wearing Dalton Stickers With Pride

Recognising students who exemplify Ascham’s Dalton Plan principles of Independence, Responsibility, Collaboration and Reflection has recently been enhanced with a new initiative.

The Dalton Sticker Initiative in the Junior School aims to continue to foster the positive and inspiring learning environment that we enjoy at Ascham by celebrating our students who embody these principles in their daily lives.

Students who demonstrate the Dalton principles in meaningful ways—whether by taking initiative in their learning, showing accountability, working effectively with others, or thoughtfully considering their growth as learners—will be awarded a Dalton sticker to wear on their uniform with pride.

These stickers serve as both recognition of impressive effort and a visual reminder of the strong Dalton community we have here at Ascham. They also provide a wonderful opportunity to strengthen the partnership between School and home by encouraging dialogue between students and their families about the reasons their actions were recognised.

‘We wanted to create a meaningful way to highlight the incredible and varied ways our students contribute to the Dalton spirit,’ said Head of Junior School, Ms Peta Howley. ‘This initiative is designed to celebrate everyday actions that align with our principles and inspire others to do the same.’

The first stickers have already been awarded—some examples of our awardee’s actions include:

  • Going above and beyond to ensure the safety and wellbeing of others.
  • Independently noticing and stepping into action when fellow students needed help.
  • Leading new teams to collaborate effectively.
  • Making safe and responsible choices when miscommunication of afternoon plans occurred.
  • Reflecting upon learning to achieve growth in their very next attempt.

Congratulations to our students for leading by example and making a real ‘Dalton Difference’ in the Junior School!
