The enrolment process begins with submitting an application form.
Once an application is received, your family will be invited to a School Tour to see and learn about Ascham. Attendance at this School Tour is a mandatory part of the enrolment process.
Should a place be available to offer your daughter, the final stage of the enrolment process is an interview with the Head of School.
Our formal entry points are:
We are flexible in accepting new students at other Year levels at the discretion of the Head of School, and if space is available.
Daughters of Ascham Old Girls and of current Ascham families will be given first priority for entry to either Prep, Kindergarten, Year 5 or Year 7, provided they apply by their daughter’s first birthday and adhere to the school’s enrolment procedures.
Once applications are received, families are invited to attend a mandatory School Tour.
Please download and read our full Conditions of Enrolment.
As part of our focus on providing a diverse and inclusive student community, Ascham welcomes a small number of full fee paying overseas students who wish to study in Australia via a student visa.
Entry is available for overseas students in Prep, Kindergarten, Year 5 and Year 7. For students who study English as a second language, an AEAS test report is required to be submitted to the Director of Enrolments and Community prior to application. Ascham will determine the Year group and courses appropriate for a student based on a compulsory visit to the School, examination, interview and information related to the student’s academic profile.
Entry to other years depends on availability of places. Applications for these Year levels should be discussed with the Director of Enrolments and Community prior to submission and are at the discretion of the Head of School.
Girls entering the School from Prep to Year 6 must live with their parents in Sydney.
Girls entering from Years 7 to Year 10 must either board in the School’s boarding houses or reside with their parents in Sydney.
Currently the School will not accept applications for a new student to commence in Year 11.
Parents submit an Application for Enrolment with required documentation to place their daughter on the waiting list.
Families are invited to attend a mandatory School Tour, approximately three years before the commencement date they have applied for.
Applicants whose parents have attended a School Tour are ranked by date of application. Daughters of Ascham Old Girls and current families are given priority.
Families are invited to attend an Enrolment Interview with our Head of School and places are offered at his discretion.
Upon receiving an offer for an enrolment, parents have 21 days to accept by completing the Acceptance of Offer and returning it to the Enrolments Office with the non-refundable Acceptance Fee.
Once an application has been received, families are invited to attend a comprehensive School Tour. Attending this event is a compulsory part of the enrolment process. The School will extend an invitation around three years prior to commencement at the School.
Our School Tours provide an opportunity to learn about our educational programs, including the Dalton Plan, a tour of our School campus and an opportunity to meet our Head of School, students and staff as they share insights into life at Ascham.
For our country families and families living overseas, we welcome the opportunity to show you the School should you be visiting Sydney during term time. In addition to receipt of your application, the School requests a fortnight’s notice to arrange a tour and organise for the family to meet relevant staff. To discuss opportunities for a visit to Ascham please contact the Enrolments Office.
