Our girls consistently achieve high results in the HSC—strong evidence of Ascham’s high quality of teaching and commitment to excellence.
99% of girls are offered places to universities.
Girls achieved marks of 70% or above in 616 out of the 629 examinations.
More than 50% of our students scored an ATAR above 90.
22 girls are in the All-round Achievers list, having achieved top band marks (90% and above) in 10 or more of their units.
A further ten girls narrowly missed this honours list, having achieved top band results in eight or nine of their units.
While acknowledging that the entire 2020 cohort achieved well above the State average and deserves acclaim for their achievements we are also very pleased to report outstanding individual results:
Anika Deva – first in the State in German Continuers.
Saachi Brajkovic – first in the State in History Extension.
Saachi Brajkovic – second in the State in English Advanced.
Emily Sacks – second in the State in French Continuers.
Lara Elphinstone – third in the State in French Continuers.
A high percentage of Ascham girls achieved marks in the top band across all subjects. As a non-selective school, our results show we care for all students.
Through our unique Dalton Plan, dedicated teachers guided hardworking students to achieve outstanding results.
• Of the 629 exams, 616 girls achieved marks of 70% or above.
• In five of the twenty-one, 2 Unit Courses, our students achieved marks above 80%.
• In six of seven Extension courses, our students achieved marks above 80%.
Ascham students were enrolled in 28 different courses. In 11 of these courses our lowest exam mark was equal to, or higher than, the average state exam mark. This achievement includes subjects with varied candidatures such as English Standard, English Extension 2, Physics, all History courses, French Extension, Drama, Music 1 and Music 2.
Could there be a clearer indication of the academic strengths of our School and the Dalton Plan?
The results are exceptional from a group of committed students who showed the benefit of working consistently through the HSC year.
Special congratulations and thanks go to all the Ascham teachers who were involved with Year 12. The class of 2020 was nurtured by the Year Coordinator, Ms Nicola Freyne, who understood individual strengths and encouraged all the girls to strive for academic excellence.
Special thanks also to the Heads of Department in each subject area. These teachers made sure they developed curriculum initiatives to enhance results.
Hearty congratulations from all of us to the Class of 2020.
