World Teachers’ Day

Our wonderful Ascham Parents’ Association (APA) made sure that World Teachers’ Day was marked and celebrated at Ascham on 29 October. Here the APA writes about the day:

‘To mark the occasion and acknowledge the hard work of all the teachers and staff at Ascham in supporting the students throughout this strange year, the Ascham Parents’ Association wanted to say thank you on behalf of all our parents, carers, guardians and families.

World Teachers’ Day is celebrated internationally on 5 October each year. However, as this usually falls during Australian school holidays, Australia celebrates this day on the last Friday in October. Each year the day has a theme – in 2021 it was leading through a crisis.”

The Ascham teachers and staff have done a phenomenal job throughout the year. The consistency and quality of our remote learning programs, the access to the teachers and the availability of the IT and broader staff are all testament to the commitment from and calibre of the Ascham faculty and staff.

Sadly, current COVID restrictions prevented the parents from being on campus to thank them personally. Therefore, on behalf of all parents, the APA provided all the teachers and staff with breakfast that morning. We delivered individual boxes of fresh pastries to the school that morning and shouted each teacher and member of staff their morning drink of choice from a cafe in the Edgecliff Centre. It was a lovely way to acknowledge them and just so happened to coincide with the first full week of the whole school returning to face-to-face learning.

We’re sure you all agree, we were keen to show our community’s gratitude for everything our teaching and general school staff have done for the students – for showing up, every day, keeping them engaged and inspired.

Happy World Teachers’ Day to all our teachers and staff.’
