The immersive world of VR

Ascham girls love their STEAM activities and lunchtime STEAM Clubs. This month in the Senior School STEAM club, students are immersing themselves in the inspiring world of Virtual Reality (VR).

VR creates an entirely digital environment, a 360-degree, immersive user experience that feels real. In a VR setting, students can interact with what they see as if they were there. VR provides our girls with interactive and meaningful learning experiences that motivate them to explore new academic interests.

Immersive learning via VR include can inspire students’ creativity and spark their imagination. VR may also help students who are struggling to understand difficult academic concepts through unpacking topics that are visual and tactile.

In the STEAM club, Ascham girls can also play a few of their favourite e-Sport games. E-Sports strengthen students’ cognitive and social abilities as it requires teamwork, communication, strategy, and sportsmanship. E-Sports can improve hand-eye coordination, visual processing and executive functions too!

VR can bring academic subjects to life, offering students new insights and refreshing perspectives. E-sports can boost self-confidence and player socialisation. However, VR can’t replace human interaction and that’s a great reason for our girls to visit the STEAM Club every week!
