Nods for HSC Drama, Music and Visual Arts
Our Year 12 girls have kicked some artistic goals lately with news that their endeavours across drama, music and visual arts are being held in high regard by HSC markers.
Nominated for OnSTAGE, the showcase of exemplary HSC Drama Individual Performances and Group Performances, were nine Ascham girls. They will perform their pieces at the Seymour Centre in February 2020. Portia Goodman, Teya Kind, Adelaide Maurency and Matilda Simpson were nominated for their Group Performance Kool Karrot Klan. Martha Castaldi, Anna Coles, Zara Lowe and Jessica Prout were nominated for their work, Blue. Sophie Blades (Songs for Nobodies), Martha Castaldi (If Truth Be Told), Anna Coles (Gross und Klein), Teya Kind (Rise and Shine), Zara Lowe (Letters to Lindy), Jessica Prout (4.48 Psychosis) and Matilda Simpson (Eurydice) were nominated for their excellent Individual Performances.
In music, the Encore concert is a program of outstanding performances and compositions by students from schools across NSW. Ascham girls Annabel Howard and Sophie Blades were nominated for the 2020 Encore concert in the Music 1 and Music 2 courses respectively.
This year, 13 Ascham girls have had their HSC Visual Arts bodies of work retained for consideration for ARTEXPRESS 2020: Lulu Anderson, Amber Burston, Marielle Caponas, Mia Carlton, Martha Castaldi, Saskia Collins, Sophie Cropper, Ella Grossberg, Lara Lapcevic, Claude Mercer, Isabella Pongrass, Archita Sitharthan and Michelle Zhang. ARTEXPRESS is the annual exhibition featuring a selection of outstanding student artworks developed for the artmaking component of the HSC Visual Arts exam.
All of these achievements add up to wonderful recognition of the girls’ talent, commitment and hard work in their final school year. Congratulations to all of them and their dedicated teachers.
