Animal Welfare Prefects support RSPCA

Ascham girls support many charities and animals are always close to our hearts here at School.

In Fiona (Years 3-6) some of our girls have the honour of being Animal Welfare Prefects. Recently they spoke at an assembly about the RSPCA, highlighting the important work this organisation has done since 1871, looking after animals and educating society about their needs.

In providing shelters and veterinary support for so many animals across Australia, the RSPCA is always in need of a range of resources to support their work. Our Animal Welfare Prefects have organised a collection drive for the RSPCA, encouraging girls to donate pet supplies, old blankets and towels that they will deliver to a local RSPCA shelter.

The RSPCA runs 40 shelters and employs around 1,000 staff. It costs more than $100 million each year to deliver all of their services, which help prevent cruelty and  improve the lives of Australian animals, so the funds raised by Ascham girls and the donations made by our community aids their vital work.
