Ascham artists in the Waverley Youth Art Prize

At Ascham, we love art. From the earliest years our girls are active in the visual arts and many go on to choose Art as an HSC subject. Our students often enter various art prizes, and the Waverley Youth Art Prize is one that encourages young artists who live and learn in the local area to produce works that celebrate curiosity, imagination and creativity.

This year’s theme, Best in Show, encouraged students to produce works in any medium that celebrate the role of animals in our lives. We had many Fiona students (Year 3 to 6) produce vibrant and imaginative work for this competition, and had 16 girls named as finalists in the competition.

Year 4 student Annabelle Knox (pictured) won the award for Best Interpretation of the Theme for her sculpture, and Year 5 student Sabrina Koczkar achieved Second Prize in the Junior Category. Warm congratulations to Annabelle, Sabrina, all the girls who were finalists and all those who entered.

The wonderful work our students produced will be on display at the Waverley Library until Sunday 24 June 2018.
