Year 2 animation gets a nod from ACMI

A dozen Year 2 Ascham girls received a Special Mention for their animation, Late!, at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image’s Screen It Awards. Late! was named a Finalist in the Junior Animation category and then awarded the Special Mention. With only one winner in each category and not all categories allocated Special Mentions, it indicates a high standard for the runners-up.

The Year 2 girls worked hard on their film that features fabulous effects, terrific acting and an inventive plot: sick of Alice being late to school each day, her teacher sends the class off on an adventure through time. After a narrow escape on the medieval battlefields and a glimpse into the future of the humble pet dog, Alice learns an important lesson that she will never forget.

Filmmaking and animation are fantastic learning experiences and skills building for our young students. Congratulations to our Year 2 girls on their wonderful achievement. You can view their film below.
