Ascham has a student population of 1,000 girls in three main sections. The Headmistress of Ascham is Mrs Louise Robert-Smith.
The Senior School is located in the heart of the campus and accommodates approximately 600 students from Years 7-12.
The Junior School (Years 3-6) is called Fiona, the name of the 1864 heritage listed building in which most of the Junior School classes take place. The head of Fiona is Mrs Elizabeth Neil.
The Infants School is called Hillingdon. It includes Kindergarten (five-year-olds) and girls in Years 1 and 2. Next door to Hillingdon is the Preschool (four-year-olds), accommodated in its own well-equipped building. The head of both Hillingdon and Kindergarten is Mrs Judith Butcher.
The Boarding School, of approximately 100 students from NSW and overseas, is open for students from Year 6 through to Year 12. Ascham’s Acting Director of Boarding is Mrs Frances Booth.
All sections of the school are on the one campus of 3.3 hectares of beautiful grounds in the heart of Sydney’s eastern suburbs. This provides a reassuring continuity within the school, and enhancement of the school community through easy interaction between older and younger girls and staff, and easy access to all of the school’s many outstanding facilities. Many of the buildings are purpose built and the school is also proud of its five heritage-listed buildings.
Ascham is fortunate to have an outstanding staff including the academic, administration, maintenance, boarding and student welfare teams whose loyalty, commitment and enthusiasm are the backbone of the successful running of the school. |
