Fiona / Student Welfare

A key feature of Fiona girls’ academic success and well-being is the school’s ability to care for the individual.  Small class sizes enable each class teacher to support and monitor every girl.  Fiona teachers know each girl well and are able to identify any problems or to listen to any concerns that girls, parents or other staff may have and to take action when needed.

The girls have an ongoing program of talks and class topics on social and emotional development which focus on the key issues of primary age girls.  Importantly, girls are encouraged to care for one another and to take responsibility for the way in which their behaviour affects others. Should concerns require professional attention, the school’s counsellors are also available.

The Fiona staff works as a team to ensure the well-being of the entire Fiona community: girls and their families.  The school emphasises the importance of girls’ caring for one another. Throughout the year, Fiona has informative talks for parents on a range of relevant topics.
