Physical education is a key component of the girls’ weekly timetable.  Ascham does not make inter-school sport compulsory but there is strong voluntary participation and enthusiasm.  Teams enter the competitions of the IPSHA (Independent Primary Schools Heads Association) against other independent girls’ schools at sporting venues throughout Sydney. The school offers various sports: athletics, cross-country, artistic and rhythmic gymnastics, hockey, minkey, netball, sailing, skiing, soccer, softball, diving, swimming, tennis and equestrian events.

Fiona girls belong to one of three school houses.  These are groups for the school events such as the swimming and athletics carnivals which provide opportunities for enjoyable sporting competition.
