Wellbeing in the Senior School
Strong and caring relationships are at the heart of the Senior School.
A caring and supportive framework
The girls’ well-being is of paramount importance to us and we work to create a supportive framework in which the girls can grow.
Because The Dalton Plan enables staff to know the girls very well, each girl’s well-being is part of every lesson and every study. The girls develop good relationships with each other and with their teachers so they always have someone they can turn to if needed.
Each year group is cared for by Year Coordinator who works with a group of Form Teachers to oversee the girls’ well-being. Every morning and afternoon girls attend their Form Class for roll call and important messages. Three times a week, the Form Teachers work closely with the girls on planning and organisation to help the girls meet their commitments.
Specific strategies are in place to help Year 7 with the transition to Senior School. We have a Year 12 buddy system, specific help with Dalton which is formally introduced in Year 7, a Year 7 camp, and a workshop on change during Term 1.
From then, workshops, outside speakers, information evenings, camps, PDHPE course and specific programs are tailored to the girls’ developmental needs throughout their years with us.
