Leaving school to go to university or on to a career is one of the great adventures life has to offer.
At Ascham, we are passionate about helping each girl to manage her transition to higher education and to make informed decisions about her future beyond high school.
Girls are encouraged to research a wide variety of tertiary institutions and the school offers significant support for applications to NSW, interstate, US, UK and European universities. Girls are encouraged to sit the SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) if they are interested in the US tertiary education system. In addition, girls are supported and prepared for both Oxbridge applications and others tertiary institutions in the UK.
Ascham girls continue on to study a wide variety of university courses and pursue careers ranging from Medicine to Theatre arts, Architecture to Media & Communication, International relations to Psychology and Law to Nursing.
With a compulsory Year 10 work experience and community service programs, regular careers assessment, university visits, interview practice and guest speakers, we develop the girls to:
Build and maintain positive self-image with a good understanding of their strengths, values and aptitudes
Understand the relationship between work, society and the economy
Understand the key skills, values and personal style required for specific career areas of interest
Make informed, researched and well-reasoned higher education and career enhancing decisions
Respond to and learn from change, challenge and opportunities in world of work.
