Working at Ascham

Ascham aims to be an employer of choice for teachers. The skill, expertise and commitment of Ascham’s teachers are reflected in the success which Ascham students achieve at school and in later life, in both their academic and wider endeavours.

One of the key aspects to teaching at Ascham is the quality of relationships within the school. Not only is there a strong sense of collegiality but, because of The Dalton Plan, teachers have rewarding and strong relationships with their students. Discipline is not an issue as the students are committed to learning and working in partnership with their teachers. Our students leave the school regarding their teachers as friends and allies on their educational journey.

Ascham provides each of its teachers with their own classroom, enabling them to see students either in a lesson or a study period. This allows our teachers to set up their classroom to suit their teaching style and create a rich centre for their personal resources.

No student has to make an appointment to see teachers, as they are in their classrooms and students know when they are available. This enables teachers to provide support to students when they need it, a unique feature of Ascham’s educational system which benefits both students and teachers.
